Cristian Lefter

Hello and welcome to this site. If you read this page, you probably have something in common with dancing (though I suspect that we all do Cool).

As Walt Whitman said "I am large, I contain multitudes" and among them in my life, there is dancing.
I started to dance in 2007 when my knees refused to play basketball anymore.

Among the styles of dancing that I tried and enjoyed are: Street Dance (to read: Hip Hop, Popping, and Locking), Tecktonik (also known as Electro Dance), Salsa, Bachata, Zouk and Argentinian Tango.

If I’ll have to choose one to take with me on a deserted island it will probably be Tango (and somewhere in there I will try to squeeze West Coast Swing). Tango is the dance that you just start and never quit. You can quit drugs but not Tango.

What about West Coast Swing? This entire site is dedicated to West Coast Swing - the dance that has the same importance for me as Tango. This is an unusual story but hey, it’s my page I can write anything.

I started to learn and teach West Coast Swing in the same time. I know it sounds strange. The usual path is you learn to dance WCS then to teach . However, as I didn’t have any teacher in my country (Romania), I’ve decided to become one so from the start I began to learn how to teach it.
Long story short, my road to West Coast Swing includes:

  • a trip to Downey, California to Skippy Blair, the First Lady of Swing (where I got certified in teaching West Coast 101).
  • private lessons with Skippy Blair, Ádám Balásy and Rita Jóri, Mary Ann Nuñez, Sarah Grusmark, John Lindo, Jordan Frisbee and Tessa Cunningham
  • Robert Royston's Intensive class @ UK and European West Coast Swing Championships 2012 (Weston-Super-Mare UK)
  • Teachers Training with Jordan Frisbee, Tatiana Mollmann, Ronnie Debenedetta and Catriona Wiles @ Detonation Dance 2012 (Birmingham UK)
  • Budapest (the BudaFest 2011 event)
  • The Boston Tea Party 2011
  • group classes with Skippy Blair, Ádám Balásy and Jóri Rita, John Lindo and Jessica Cox, Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Molman, Arjay Centeno and Jennifer DeLuca, Robert Cordoba and Deborah Szekely, Kyle Redd and Sarah Vann Drake, Maxence Martin and Virginie Grondin, Michael Kielbasa and Erica Berg, Myles Munroe and Tessa Cunningham, Ronnie Debenedetta and Catriona Wiles

Hopefully, this is just the beginning.
